A little history: Ridgway pottery has been made in the Staffordshire district in England since 1838. From 1879 they traded as Ridgways, until 1920 when the pottery was renamed Ridgways (Bedford Works). It remained under the Ridgway family control until 1929 when the firm was taken over by Cauldon Potteries. The Ridgway name was retained and they obtained Limited Company status in 1955. In 1964 they became part of the Royal Doulton Group.
